ICE non-fatal shooting in Brighton Park

Description

Marimar Martinez, driving a grey Nissan Rogue, allegedly rammed into a Chevy Tahoe driven by ICE. Body-camera video of a Border Patrol agent involved in the shooting of a woman who was allegedly chasing agents in Brighton Park shows an officer saying, “Do something, b----,” before pulling over and shooting the woman five times, the woman’s attorney said in federal court. The video appears to contradict the government’s allegation that Marimar Martinez, 30, drove toward officers before one of them opened fire on her on Kedzie Avenue near 39th Street. Bodycam footage and photos of offending officers are currently unavailable. A large protest emerged after Martinez was transported to a hospital. Attachments show the damage to Martinez's car, the location of her car after she was sent away, CCTV footage of her pursuing the CBP-driven Tahoe before the shooting, and screenshots of the shooter's text messages following the incident.
